openSUSE.



The openSUSE is build on Linux Kernel 3.4. Its surely as competent as Ubuntu in graphical perspective. Its mainly designed to provide an ease to the users. OpenSUSE has multiple desktops, has a wide range of hardware support and as any other Linux distributions, its free and open source. It is managed and sponsored by SUSE and a few other companies. The current stable version is openSUSE 12.2. 
The openSUSE is as stable as any other Linux Distributions. It has been designed keeping in mind both the beginners and professional users. Its just great for everybody. It is bundled with over 1000 application software to handle almost all day to day working needs of an average user. 


Features: 

A desktop OS. It has everything you can do with any other OS. Surfing the net, watching movies, chatting online, sending mails, playing games, writing documents, just everything that too completely free. 

Office Suite included. OpenOffice is included as a replacement for Microsoft Office, serving all the purpose MS Office can, and in fact providing additional to that. 

Virus-free. Yup. No need to worry about virus and malwares. Its almost with all the Linux Distributions. No need to waste a monthly amount on some antivirus and wasting your internet bandwidth in updating it regularly. Mozilla Firefox included for surfing net which alert you from phishing sites from identity thefts. 

Media player. Banshee and Amarok are included as Video players and DigiKam for picture viewing. All pre bundled.

Open Source. openSUSE like any other Linux Distribution is open source. Its source code is available online here. 

Completely Free. Yup. Its completely free to use and share it with your friends,  family and even to someone you don't even know as long as you don't charge anyone anything. Its meant to be free. 


Hardware Requirements: 
openSUSE is compatible to almost all hardware standards, but basically to install it on your system, you need:

Intel Pentium III or higher processor. Although Its good to have atleast Intel Pentium IV processor. 

RAM. Minimum 1 GB of RAM, although 2 GB is recommended.

Disk Space. 3 GB of disk space for minimal Installation. 5 GB for complete installation for all the features.

Download openSUSE 12.2 latest version here. You can select any method for downloading. There is a whole lot of ways.
