Open Source Softwares / Free softwares provides an alternative to the high cost Proprietary softwares. The software costing in hundreds of $$$ have alternative all over the internet. Here we are compiling Top 10 open source / free softwares. Only five of them are discussed here.

• Linux. Linux is a popular operating system which is the best example of free and open source software. That means its not only free to use but its underlying source code is also available for modification, redistribution. Linux has many different distributions developed along with its progress. • Mozilla. Mozilla is also both free and open source. It is free and cross platform Internet software suite that includes 
• a web browser. Mozilla Firefox
• an email client. Mozilla Thunderbird.

Apache web server is developed and maintained by an open community of developers under the name of Apache software foundation. • MySQL. It is one of the most popular open source database system in the world. It is multi-threaded, multi-user, SQL relational database server. It is available for different platforms like windows, Linux, Mac, Sun OS etc. It supports many front end programming languages such as C, C++, SmallTalk, JAVA, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, TCl and some more.
