I do not think that LibreOffice is the best alternative to Microsoft Office. It is overloaded, slow, has a clunky UI, and the compatibility to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats is horrible.
ReplyDeleteE.g. Word / Write: tables, figure captions and formatting like superscript and subscript are really messed up between MS Office and Libreoffice and vice versa, also headers and footers created issues for me at times.
Much better is SoftMaker Office, or their lite free version FreeOffice (freeoffice.com). It's damn fast, tiny (57MB) and it's compatibility with Microsoft Office formats is simply awesome.
Yes, it's not open source, that's true, but in this case it's just better, and it's free, try it out.
May be..LibreOffice is not the best alternative to microsoft's office. But its not that bad. There are thousands of people (even windows platform users) who rely heavily on it. Its free. Its open source. And some people are born to share knowledge. Not to hide it in exe.
