openSUSE.



The openSUSE is build on Linux Kernel 3.4. Its surely as competent as Ubuntu in graphical perspective. Its mainly designed to provide an ease to the users. OpenSUSE has multiple desktops, has a wide range of hardware support and as any other Linux distributions, its free and open source. It is managed and sponsored by SUSE and a few other companies. The current stable version is openSUSE 12.2. 
The openSUSE is as stable as any other Linux Distributions. It has been designed keeping in mind both the beginners and professional users. Its just great for everybody. It is bundled with over 1000 application software to handle almost all day to day working needs of an average user.

Being a Linux based operating system, it inherits all the properties. It is free, Open source and you can distribute to anyone you wish.

Fedora is 100% Open Source. Fedora is completely free and open source. Its underlying source code is available for you to study, modify, change. You can even distribute the distribution with the changes you made to it as far as you keep it open source and dont charge for it from anyone. Its free and should always be.

How to Install Linux.

Before installation, the most important factor for selecting best distribution is your hardware. Since every Linux distributions contains the basic package and they all use the same Linux kernel, the only point to consider is if the distribution will run on the machine or not.

What is Linux Distribution. A Linux Distribution is a collection of software with Linux kernel. Usually the softwares are all open source just like Linux kernel. A distribution is bundled with server software, system management tools, documentations and many softwares for the users.

Open Source Free Operating System. Yup! Linux is completely free unlike Windows and Mac OS X where you have to pay quite a good amount for using their services. Its open source too. That means you have the access to hundreds of thousands of lines of codes in which Linux has been written and if you are a techie and can handle all those codes on your own or may be just a part of it, you can customize it to suite yours personal choices. Although you must be a real geek for that.!!
